Yes, this is a bandwagon I am jumping on. I’ve already made my little widget and am adding it to all my many pages. I am not using Paypal, though, and am using DonorBox instead. Donors can still pay with Paypal — or any other method — but they can also have the option of donating on a recurring monthly basis.

As a reader I would like the option of choosing what writers I give my money to rather than having my money given to writers that I don’t read writing about things I am not interested in (as with the Medium paywall system).

As a writer, my readers get to read everything without paying but they are also provided with an option to help keep the lights on in my home (something I need to power the laptop). How helpful it will be remains to be seen but the important thing is that the reader is given a choice.
