When I was growing up all my friends considered Donnie and Marie Osmond to be the embodiment of the antichrist. They were the main reason that I never considered Utah as a place to live.

Back then I was a HUMONGOUS fan of Carole King. Goodness, gracious, I loved her so much! I listened to her records non-stop. But when she wrote that song (Go Away Little Girl) for Donnie Osmond I was so, so, so, so pissed off at her. I actually stopped buying her records.

So anyway, it was very difficult to enjoy your post, Gail Boenning . Just mention Donnie and Marie and my blood curdles. That’s my problem, not yours.

Write what you like to read?

Screw Malcom Gladwell and Irma Bombeck. They are not YOU! Don’t ever write what you like to read. Ever!

Simply write what comes from your heart. Feathers are what lift you up beyond all the other noise. Feathers enable you to fly rather than just regurgitate. Given my name, feathers are very important to me.

When you finally kick the bucket, when you explode in the sky, let the feathers falling down upon the masses be a gentle expression of love, a soft tickling of the humanity within all beings. Let those feathers be an upliftment of spirit, a softening of the human struggle. a gentle reminder of how we can all soar. Like snowflakes, no two feathers are exactly the same. Just continue to fly.
