Whatever works.

I am very happy for you that you found success on Patreon. I’m sorry if I came off sounding judgmental. I was merely sharing my experiences with Patreon and my perspectives on that system as well as my experiences with a different system that has worked better for me.

I assure you that my ‘high horse’ stance is not something I can afford. I can’t afford a horse. I live on the very edge of homelessness every single day. I have a very intimate relationship with poverty. But that is my choice. I chose to focus exclusively on the writing and dispense with the selling. I have paid dearly for that choice but because of that choice I have a heck of a lot more time to write and that is what truly matters to me. Writing brings me joy and selling does not. If I lose the roof over my head because of that choice then so be it. Instead of writing on a laptop I’ll have to write with pen and paper while sitting on a park bench. Perhaps then my writing will get even better.

I’ve enjoyed your writing for some time now. Sorry I can’t afford to subscribe. With daily temperatures over a hundred my air conditioner has been running full time and my next electric bill may very well push me out into the streets. I might be better off investing my spare change in paper and pens. No matter what happens I will continue to write because to me writing is an obsessive, addicting, pathological sickness. If I stop writing I will die. Everything else is secondary.

If I can get more time to write by not selling then that is success to me. So far it works for me. And you have to do what works for you. I wish you all the best.
