There must be a new concept for ‘marriage.’ One that involves neither patriarchy nor matriarchy. One that totally rewrites everything we’ve ever considered marriage to be. One that goes beyond the vows recited by the two people involved. One that goes beyond a contract between two people and enters a whole new concept of interaction. It must be an act of surrender that breaches every social concept of partnership. It must be a mutual pact of surrender to anything and everything that issues forth from the merging of souls. No marriage can be real without a complete eradication of all concepts held beforehand. A marriage cannot bring forth life without the complete, absolute surrender of any and all concepts of life previously held by either partners. Marriage is an act of death. Without that death, no marriage can be the birth that it is meant to be. Before any child is born of a marriage, that marriage must be the first new child born.

Linda, your article is a clarion call to humankind. We cannot evolve forward until we evolve our concepts of relationships. Thank you for a fantabulous article! It was freaking awesome!
