There may not be any classes for learning Texan but there really are classes for unlearning Texan. I knew an actress from Odessa once who had dreams of making it big in Hollywood. After getting an agent the first thing the agent said was that she had to lose that gosh darn Texas drawl and all the Texasisms and speak fluent accent-free American. The local community college actually had a course to help Texans do this. She took the course and you could no longer tell that she was from Texas. (She still hasn’t won an Oscar, though.)
