The Sarcophagus
And the little girl
Chelsea had a very happy childhood. It was full of joy and wonderment. Nothing bad ever happened. She almost never experienced anxiety or stress or worry. Every day was lived fully.
Then she grew up. Anxiety became her constant companion. There were now so many things to worry about and bad things happened on a regular basis. Being an adult was nothing like she had imagined. She thought life would just continue being wonderful.
By the time Chelsea reached her forties she was a total wreck. She had completely lost touch with that little girl that was still inside her but remained unreachable. There seemed to be no hope of ever experiencing life again the way that little girl did.
It felt like that little girl had died; like she had been mummified with countless layers of impenetrable gauze and stuffed inside a sarcophagus deep within her being. Somehow, Chelsea felt that her only hope of experiencing happiness and joy again was to find that sarcophagus within her, open it and cut away the bindings to free that little girl.
Surely the little girl was not really dead. Surely she was just locked away. If only Chelsea could find her, free her and reunite with her then she could be whole again and her life would start reflecting that.
