The Santa Claus gestalt is all about a belief in mojo. All humans are born with an innate belief in magic. As adult parents we humor them for a few years and then proceed to beat that belief out of them. It is often a reaction to having that belief beaten out of us when we were kids.

On rare occasions there are children born whose belief in mojo somehow manages to survive the conditioning of parents and family and society and they grow up to embody that mojo and spread it throughout society and the world. We pay tribute to and honor these very rare children but at the same time we fear that one of our own children might be one of them. We’ve been conditioned to reject that child within ourselves who embodies mojo so we extend that conditioning to our own children, allowing it only a short time to be expressed in order for us to ever so temporarily remember and embrace that belief in mojo that we all experienced so long, long ago. And then we shove it aside in order to conform to societal convention. Occasionally, a parent will be so touched by a young child’s unconditional belief in mojo that they are transformed and that young child within them is reawakened. And that is when some really profound mojo can happen.

Thank goodness for little kids.
