Ever since I was a young whippersnapper I have spent a great deal of time staring out the window. Gosh I love windows! When I was a kid in school I spent an inordinate amount of time staring out the windows and daydreaming. I dreaded classrooms without windows.

I currently live in a second-floor apartment and one of the first things I did after moving in was to take down the mini-blinds from all the windows. In previous homes I have immediately taken down curtains and draperies. I can’t stand anything covering up a window. Why the hell even have a window if you are just going to cover it up?

When sitting at my desk in my office I can look out the window and see a lot of old, tall trees. I also see bits of rooftops of single-story homes between those trees. I can also look up into the sky and watch the clouds as they slowly swim by. And I also have a clear view of a tall wooden telephone pole.

There are power lines at the top of this pole that connect to other poles to the right and left that are out of view from this window. A little lower down on the pole there is a single cable wire that also connects to poles to the right and left that are out of the picture.

So many times I have glanced out this window to see a squirrel walking or running…
