Thanks for the comment, Susan. The most common comeback I get when I am foolish enough to express my sentiment about writing in books is, “Hey, I bought the book, it’s my book and I’ll do with it whatever I choose to.” The people who express that comeback are 100%, absolutely correct. I agree with them wholeheartedly. I happen to have a very different and perhaps a little whacko opinion and perspective on books. Ever since I was a child I have treated books as holy objects. For me, that is just as valid an opinion. There is, of course, no right nor wrong when it comes to how we treat our books. There are just different opinions, sentiment and habits. While you would have to point a gun to my head before I will ever write in a book, I would be utterly jubilant if you were to buy one of my novels and write all over it (provided, of course, that your check has already cleared the bank).
