Thank you, The Solitary Cook , for mentioning windows. I prefer a window above the kitchen sink but sadly I don’t have one in my current apartment. Luckily there is a window just to the left of the sink so I merely have to turn my head to look out. Personally, I think that all rooms should have windows. Kitchen windows are not only good for looking through but they can also hold pots of herbs used in cooking. You simply can’t get any fresher than snipping some leaves at the window then taking a few steps to the stove to put those leaves into whatever you are cooking.

Writing prompt? It’s interesting that you said that because that is what this story has provided me with. Soon after publishing it I was overcome with a whole new perspective on dish washing that will no doubt lead to a follow up story when I get the time. Dish washing is a lot like windows. You never know what is going to come through.
