Thank you for bringing this up, BHD . While I discovered this feature some time ago, I’m afraid many people aren’t aware of it. I wish Medium would make this the first feed that shows up when clicking on a tag. The default ‘most popular’ tag is so short and it changes so very, very slowly. Normally, I automatically go to the ‘Latest’ feed but sometimes I forget and start scrolling down the ‘Most Popular’ feed only to realize that it is almost identical to what it showed a week before. I then slap myself and go back up to click on the ‘Latest’ feed. That’s where the action is.

The other point you made that is so very important is the use of tags by writers. I was going through the ‘Latest’ feed on the Fiction tag the other day and there were posts in there about skin care, Donald Trump and, of course, some of the “Become a Billionaire By Adopting the Bathroom Habits of Famous Billionaires” articles that are so rampant on Medium. As a reader, when I click on the Fiction tag that’s all I want to see; fiction. As a writer, when I post a piece of fiction I want it in front of the eyeballs of those who are looking for fiction. Tags are one of the best tools Medium offers and learning how to use them for both reading and writing can make the Medium experience a lot less frustrating.

Thanks for this article, BHD
