Shooting For the Moon

Is there a lunar algorithm?

--

I’m curious. Are there any Medium writers who have done extensive statistical analysis of the relationship between the success of their stories here on Medium and lunar phases?

Do your stories do better around the New Moon or the Full Moon? First or second quarters? Lunar eclipses?

Anyone?

We live in a time where data rules everything. Hopelessly stuck in the left-half of our brains, we crunch numbers on everything and anything and we have come to rely on those numbers for making all our decisions. We consider those numbers to be infallible. And we use those numbers to create the algorithms that now run our lives.

So has anyone come up with a lunar phase algorithm to determine times of maximum success on Medium?

Anyone?

You know that bar graph we all see on our stats page? It has dates on it but no indication of lunar phases. Why is that? If those stat graphs included information on where the moon is then we could clearly see in which lunar phase we have the most success. Why is Medium hiding that from us?

Living almost all of our lives indoors with almost all of our focus on either the ‘smart’ phone in our hand or the laptop on our desk, have we forgotten all about that big hunk of…
