Renée S , as a former owner of an independent mom and pop bookstore who was forced out of business by Jeff Bezos, I very much appreciate what you said about Amazon. I loathe the Jeff Bezos system of monopoly that decimates everything in its path to complete world domination. I have not purchased anything at Amazon in over a decade. If I am looking for a book, I will purchase it anywhere but Amazon. If Amazon is the only place the book is available then I won’t buy the book.

And now it seems that Ev Williams is following the Amazon blueprint in search of his own total world dominance. As a writer of creative fiction it pains me to see my fellow writers of creative fiction being crushed under the jackboot of Ev Williams’ all-out assault on fiction and fiction writers.

Knowing that if I were to pay to become a member that my money would go exclusively to writers of non-fiction made my decision not to join very easy. Now that that decision has been made I am now wrestling with whether to continue contributing to Medium with my time and energy, knowing that Ev Williams and his staff are working tirelessly against me, making sure that all creative fiction gets flushed into the bottomless Medium abyss where only a tiny handful of deep-sea divers might find it.

It seems utterly futile to fight against the Medium Goliath just as it is to fight Amazon. The only viable option seems to be to boycott and go elsewhere. I have yet to commit to that decision but I’m getting very close.
