“Positivity and decisiveness…” Bridget Webber , you nailed it with those two words. Along with unconditional love, they are the best medicine.

What I left out of the story is that after that best bowl of ice cream Brandon had ever eaten he healed and in subsequent years he continued to eat ice cream two or three or four times a year (not very often). He never ate it because he craved it. He never ate it out of habit. He never ate it as a dessert. He only ate ice cream when there was cause for true celebration.

Celebration is another valuable medicine (in whatever form). When we are facing both life and a life-threatening illness, by celebrating life we are CHOOSING LIFE over the illness. Moving our focus away from the illness towards the life we still have is putting energy into life rather than the illness. It is an act of choice. When people are faced with a life-threatening illness very rarely do they ever celebrate. They are missing out on valuable medicine. They are failing to tip the scales back towards life.
