Playing the 40 Things I Love Game

With a teeny twist

--

Jim Fritzen tagged me in the “40 things I love game” that is spreading across Medium like a wildfire. I thought, Okay, I’ll do it but I’ve got to find a way of doing it slightly differently than anyone else. That is my tendency — always has been. So I decided to categorize my 40 things into the five senses of sound, smell, taste, touch, and sight. Hopefully no one has done that already.

Sound

  1. Birdsong
  2. Small children playing on a playground out of doors
  3. The distant sound of lawnmowers
  4. Small airplanes flying overhead
  5. The sound of Ewan McGregor talking
  6. Saxophones
  7. The sound of water (babbling brooks, waterfalls, ocean surf, etc.)
  8. The sound of flapping angel wings

Smell

  1. The smell of roasting New Mexico green chile
  2. Cedar smoke (and cedar wood)
  3. Sweetgrass smoke
  4. Desert sage smoke
  5. Pinon sap
  6. The smell of a pizza parlor
  7. Freshly mowed grass
  8. Horse manure

Taste
