Playing the 40 Things I Love Game
With a teeny twist
2 min readJan 28, 2019
Jim Fritzen tagged me in the “40 things I love game” that is spreading across Medium like a wildfire. I thought, Okay, I’ll do it but I’ve got to find a way of doing it slightly differently than anyone else. That is my tendency — always has been. So I decided to categorize my 40 things into the five senses of sound, smell, taste, touch, and sight. Hopefully no one has done that already.
Sound
- Birdsong
- Small children playing on a playground out of doors
- The distant sound of lawnmowers
- Small airplanes flying overhead
- The sound of Ewan McGregor talking
- Saxophones
- The sound of water (babbling brooks, waterfalls, ocean surf, etc.)
- The sound of flapping angel wings
Smell
- The smell of roasting New Mexico green chile
- Cedar smoke (and cedar wood)
- Sweetgrass smoke
- Desert sage smoke
- Pinon sap
- The smell of a pizza parlor
- Freshly mowed grass
- Horse manure
