Mark, my late kitty cat would strongly disagree with you. I’m a ‘cactophile’ so I’ve always had several cacti in my homes. I hug trees and I also hug cacti. It’s a spiritual thing. But I’m not talking about me but rather the kitty cat…

On practically a daily basis my kitty cat would rub her face and neck and shoulders and other parts of her body up against my potted cacti. When I first noticed this I freaked. Why would anyone stick their face directly into a cactus? Well, this is how she brushed her hair! And she brushed her hair every day. I don’t know what she would have done if I didn’t have plenty of cacti around for her.

Well, I happen to have fairly long hair. I haven’t cut it in thirty-three and a half years. I brush my hair every day, too, but I use a hair brush. Well, around once a week I end up pulling a big wad of hair out of my hairbrush. It was the same back when my kitty cat was alive. Every week or two I had to take tweezers and pull all the cat hair off my cacti. And there was always a lot.

Hair maintenance was something my kitty cat and I bonded over. I sure do miss her.
