Lurking in the Shadows

Dis-identifying in the light

We are the shadow residing in the No Thing.
Seeking self-realization,
we cautiously step out of the void
into the light.

Afraid, we hastily retreat
to the comfort of the dark void,
leaving a smear across the light
we briefly ventured out into.

And then we get confused.
We think we are that residue;
that smear, that trail we left in our wake.
And we lose touch with our true self
still lurking in the shadows.

We are not the creatures
created by the shadow of our smears.
We are the shadow
desiring to create our own light.
