Looking Up
A world connected by sky
Somewhere in a land far away there was a young boy who was marveling at the sight of a very large bird flying in swooping curves through the cloudless sky. He wondered what it must be like to fly through the air. He imagined doing so. His mind was in the sky.
Somewhere on the other side of the planet there was a young girl who was lying on her back in the grass staring up at a large bird flying through the sky, its form silhouetted against the bright white clouds. She pretended that she was that bird. She could fly where ever she wanted to go. She felt the freedom of movement and could imagine the endless vistas that could be seen from such heights.
In yet a different part of the world an old dying man sat in his rickety chair with his head back looking up into the sky. He imagined his soul having wings enabling it to fly up away from his body high up into the sky. Then he noticed a large bird flying in swooping curves up above. Was that another soul waiting for his to come up and fly with it?
A little toddler was walking on the beach in a distant land. Walking was still fairly new to the child and walking on sand was definitely new. Every few feet the toddler would fall back on its diaper-padded posterior and giggle. It would then get up and resume walking only to fall again. Once after falling and sitting…
