Just to clarify, I wasn’t saying that I was going un-follow people in droves. I have only un-followed one entity and that is Medium Staff. By doing this I no longer get what Medium Staff recommends in my feed. Instead I get articles from people and tags that I follow. It’s still too early to tell how that will affect my feed but I will soon see.

You are certainly correct, though, in that it is important to be far more vigilant as to who or what I follow. I will be paying very close attention and making changes as I see the results in my feed.
