I've been on Medium for 5 and a half years now. It just keeps getting worse and worse. I also used to earn 3 figures per month but now, writing just as much, I'm very lucky to make it all the way up to $20 a month. And, of course, after the $5 monthly MPP fee I really only earn around $15 a month (for writing between 4 and 8 hours a day almost every single day). That comes out to around 50 cents a day. Working as a fry cook at McDonalds for just one day I can earn as much as I do writing full-time on Medium for over 4 months. Medium is doing everything it can to make sure that writing remains the worst-paying profession on the planet.

Yet here I am still writing for pennies and half-pennies on Medium. When I was a kid my mother used to tell me that I was mentally retarded. I thought she was joking but now I think she may have been right.

I keep looking for a new website that, unlike Medium, takes writing seriously but I haven't found one yet. I keep looking.
