I performed a ritual earlier this morning that involved ashes. It had nothing to do with Catholicism or Lent. It was more related to the new moon. I didn’t even realize that it was Ash Wednesday until I read your article, Ann. Maybe my ritual was more perfectly in sync than I thought.

When I think back on all the many Fish-Stick-Fridays of my childhood I just chuckle.
