I’m not sure how knowing a reader’s fitness level and sleep patterns is going to make Medium a better and more democratic publishing platform.

If we are only fed information that matches our personal data then everything we’re fed will only reinforce and keep us in the box of that data. We’ll get nothing new and different to help us see and go beyond that box. When that happens we stop growing. We need something that pushes us out of our closed boxes into new ideas not something that only matches the ideas we already have and keeps us in the same thinking patterns.

The notion of personal data exchanges is a hard one for me to swallow. I guess I’m just an old schooler who still values privacy. And I prefer to explore rather than be mindlessly fed only that which matches my personal data. I have a mind of my own. I don’t need some algorithm to decide for me what I need and want based on an amalgamation of my private personal data.
