I’m a bit slow and stupid. It took me about 5 minutes to realize that IRL stood for ‘in real life.’ How can I be that dumb? Anyway, in the decades I’ve been on the internet I’ve never had an internet friend convert into an IRL friend. It’s hard for me to imagine. Maybe it’s because no internet friend I’ve ever had lives within 500 miles of me. I guess that’s what I get for living out in the boonies. And avoiding Facebook like the plague. Anyway, I take online privacy very, very seriously despite the seemingly oxymoronic qualities. If we allow ourselves to be convinced that we must give up all privacy by being on the internet then we have essentially given up any privacy. If Zuckerberg tells me to jump off a cliff I ain’t gonna do it. But it is nice to read your article and see that good things can happen in the midst of any situation. It gives hope. Thanks.
