I agree wholeheartedly with Dheeraj. When we click on a tag we get a feed for what is popular on that tag and we also have a choice of clicking on what is NEWEST on that tag. I almost always immediately click on “NEWEST.” But on the home page feed/stream we don’t have the option of clicking on a “NEWEST” feed. Our only choice is what is popular and most of that doesn’t interest me at all.

In my opinion the NUMBER ONE problem with Medium is the home page feed/stream. That feed is inundated with the very top most popular and most read stories, most of which I have no interest in. It’s filled with topics I have no interest in and which I do not follow and it’s filled with the most popular authors, most of which I do not follow or care to read. There is no way to discover NEW, fresh stories by authors who are not in the top 2% of most-read authors. To find new and fresh stories and authors on Medium involves an enormous amount of blind tedious searching. It’s like Medium wants to hide everything but the top 2% authors. I have become very exasperated by this and visit and post on Medium much less now because of it.

So many people have commented on this problem that I think it is time that Medium FINALLY acknowledges the problem so that we can all have a conversation about fixing it before it ruins Medium. Having a “NEWEST” feed on the home page would go a long way in making people happy. Ev Williams would you please, please consider this?
