Further bookstore blabber….

I think it might be best to completely throw out the word, ‘chain,’ from the contemporary business lexicon. That’s old school.

Chains are what bind us.

Instead of one entity having thousands of chain outlets, thousands of artists can have their very own individual outlet. Would not that enhance the experience and accelerate new thinking? Wouldn’t the world explode with diversity and creativity?

As a book lover walking up the red carpet between the ropes leading up to the bookstore, it may be preferred that I am given a choice. Do I pay for a cover charge to get in or do I pay for a membership that lets me get in every day for an entire year?

There must always be choice. And that’s a pretty good one.

By the way, the words, ‘gym,’ and ‘bookstore,’ should not be uttered in the same paragraph. Those are two very different kinds of smell.

Another idea I had was for “outdoor bookstores.” Every time it rained I would die laughing.

I have also had an idea for bookstores opening only one day a week. How great would that be? It might make it easier to charge a cover charge. The problem, of course, is in deciding which day it will be.

Do you open on the day of the week on which you were born? You know, for the sake of mojo? Or do you follow the dictates of logic and reason? Do you judge with the gavel of the mind or do you operate through the softness of the heart? What day will it be?

Oh my, it’s so complicated.

It’s hard not to see the simplicity of things.

Always allow choice. That is where the answers come from.
