Angus, I feel that the figures you use from the United Nations to justify your premise are grossly misleading. There are wars being fought throughout the world that are not officially classified as wars by the United Nations and therefore the many deaths attributed to these wars are not counted.

The best example is the horrific genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinian people by Benjamin Netanyahu’s Israeli government. The countless thousands of Palestinians who have lost their lives in this genocide are not counted in the United Nations figures because the United Nations does not consider the genocide of Palestinians to be officially a “war.”

Then there are the many, many people killed by American drone ‘warfare.’ The killing of people by drones is not officially considered an act of war and therefore all those people are not counted as victims of war.

Then there is ‘regime change’ which is not considered a war until it boils over into a real war as in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Other ‘regime changes’ have resulted in countless deaths that are not counted because ‘regime change’ has become a way of waging war without it being classified as a war.

Then there is America’s ‘War on Drugs’ which is not an official war and therefore the countless deaths attributed to this heinous war are not included in the United Nation’s list of war fatalities.

America has been in a state of perpetual war for decades (if not centuries) and the number of wars we are perpetually involved in have been increasing. But the American government and the military/industrial complex have learned how to wage war without it being officially classified as a war and therefore the number of wartime deaths reported by the United Nations is grossly understated and very misleading.

While civil wars and regional conflicts have declined in some parts of the world, the American government and business interests continue to seed conflict throughout the world in order to impose American corporate interests on other nations and to gain control over the natural resources of other countries. Most of the terrorist groups waging ‘official’ war in the world today were created, funded and trained by America and Israel. More wars have been started in this new millennium by America and Israel than any other nations. Until this persistent and increasing aggression stops no manner of incomplete data from the United Nations will convince us that we now live in a world of peace.
