And the Oscar Goes To…

Barclay waited for his name to be called out

--

All his life Barclay dreamed of winning some medal or prize. Since childhood he had watched the Oscars every single year. He fantasized about winning an Oscar and giving an acceptance speech. He actually wrote out scores of fantasy acceptance speeches, always mentioning his buddies, family and girlfriend (even if he didn’t have a girlfriend). Giving an acceptance speech in front of the whole world was his biggest dream.

One day in his fifties, Barclay learned that the shortest Oscar acceptance speech was delivered by Patty Duke in 1962 and consisted of only two words; thank you. His dream suddenly changed as he realized that he could beat that record by just saying, thanks, which is shorter than thank you. It would be a double whammy. Not only would he go down in history for winning an Oscar but he would be the new record holder of the shortest Oscar speech ever. He would never be forgotten!

If only he had taken up acting at some point in his life…
