An Idea In One’s Pocket
It makes everything better
Walking down Main Street Gerald was smiling. He was happy. He had walked down Main Street yesterday also but he was not smiling then and he definitely was not happy.
So what was the difference between yesterday and today? What put that smile on his face? That spring in his step? That tingling joy coursing through his body?
It was simple, really. You see, Gerald had an idea in his pocket. It came to him out of the blue about an hour before. Ideas were always coming to him but lately he had been in an idea drought, hence the gloominess of yesterday’s walk. He had been feeling starved and empty.
Ninety-nine out of every one hundred ideas that came to Gerald never amounted to anything. But as he walked he was not concerned with whether the idea would be successful or not. He was not formulating plans to implement the idea. He was not even thinking about the idea. He would do that later.
Now, as he walked, he was merely luxuriating in the joy of having an idea in his pocket. It seemed to change everything and it felt really, really good.
