Amen. Jim, this was a true delight to read. Thank you so much.

Oh my God (notice how I spelled that out), you went through the Seventies without ever smoking pot? I didn’t think that was possible. Oh, wait a minute. I do know one other person who did that: My brother. And guess what? He’s an accountant, too. And a Catholic.

The first Major League baseball game I ever attended was in Baltimore back in the Sixties. The Orioles were playing the Red Sox and both Frank Robinson and Carl Yastremski hit homers that day. I started out a Pirates fan just because my father was one. When we lived in Maryland I was an Orioles fan. When we moved to Texas I was an Astros fan and much later when I lived in Colorado I was a Rockies fan (from day One). Now, though, I live in a baseball-free state — and by ‘state’ I mean ‘state of mind.’ I gave it up. (Although I still occasionally write about it such as here: She Throws Like a Boy)

I also wrote (somewhere) about how I threw every single tie that I owned into a bonfire when I left the corporate world. I haven’t owned a tie in 32 years. For my daughter’s wedding I had to borrow a tie from my wife’s boyfriend.

By the way (notice how I spelled that out), I was never abused either during my brief stint as an altar boy (before leaving the church forever).

I’ve had a beard for the last 40 years so I don’t think about razors much. But I do keep my beard short and neatly trimmed so I do shave my neck. It never occurred to me not to use shaving cream until you wrote about it. I may have to give that a try. Thanks for the idea.
