Linda Caroll made sure that I didn’t make it out of November without being tagged one more time. So here are her quick five questions…

  1. What’s one of your fondest childhood memories?

From kindergarten to third grade I lived in a blazing hot desert valley in the Great American Southwest. During those four years it only snowed one time! And that one time happened to land on Christmas Eve.

Our family celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We were in the middle of unwrapping presents when the neighbor called to tell us to go outside because it was snowing. The family, some of us in pajamas, rushed out to the front yard and sure enough it was snowing. We kids held out our arms and opened our mouths as snowflakes landed on us. It was my first magical memory of snow. Even though it never stuck to the ground it was so magical that we forgot all about the unopened Christmas presents inside. (Apparently, it only snows there once every thirty years.)

Nowadays when I look out the window and see that it is snowing my first reaction is, “Oh shit! Not again!”

2. What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever hurt yourself?

Jogging on ice.
